The following book comprises a series of articles and addresses primarily prepared from sermons and lectures delivered to my congregations on the Islands of Skye and Harris off the North-West coast of Scotland. A few were prepared for my denominationÕs magazine and a couple were first delivered to the Northern Reformed Fellowship and the Scottish Reformation Society. Broadly speaking they are offered to the wider church and general public in the hope that they might prove educational, edifying and encouraging based as they are on the ministry of the word.

They provide a flavour of a Scottish presbyterian pulpit and lectern ministry and highlight central themes in the churchÕs worship, witness and work. As a Reformed minister it is my conviction that we must preach and teach the word in scripture and the Word Incarnate who is the only hope for a perishing world. It is my intention to demonstrate in what follows that ChristÕs church is catholic, confessional and commissional.
